Germination can be defined as the growth of a seed into a young plant or a seedling.

There are two types of germination namely:
· Epigeal germination and,
· Hypogeal germination
EPIGEAL GERMINATION.
This is the type of germination where cotyledons come out of the ground. It’s common in dicots that’s to say legumes such as beans, ground nuts etc.
Conditions necessary for epigeal germination
· Moisture
· Oxygen
· Warmth
