End of the High School Era: A Bittersweet Transition.

It is unequivocal the fact that the high school journey is rather pivotal in one’s life. He who enters thosegates for the first time is different from he who leaves those gates for the very last time. Years go by; a period enough for one to undergo metamorphosis through the attainment of new skills and knowledge and the gain and loss of both friends and interests. The build-up of emotions is surreal whilst the journey comes to an end as the time to face life’s reality draws closer by the second. personally, have undergone a superfluity of changes both as a student and as a human being. I have developed in character and mindset and I can bet that the Mercy at the end of primary school would not recognize the person I have become.

I like to think of the journey to graduation as a time of reflection on all the years we, as seniors, have tackled and survived. All the challenges with adolescence and the tough balance of academics, social life and extra-curricular activities have been life-changing. Each of these events in our lives; both small and big have contributed to the tapestry of the students’ lives, shaping their lives and helping them discover passions and interests. It is said that the friendships formed during high school often become life-long bonds firmly rooted in shared experiences and mutual growth. This journey is filled with so many memorable moments like proms, sports tournaments, peer parties, and Miss Taibah pageants; all of which will leave marks on our hearts as we leave.

Our current state as seniors is bittersweet since we are torn between the sad goodbyes and the excitement for life after high school. It feels like there’s relief from all the hard work of high school, but receiving such relief is at the cost of not seeing some of the people with whom you have grown anymore. The idea of not seeing the faces of both teachers and students that we have become accustomed to seeing is heartrending; however, a reality that must be faced. The excitement, on the other hand, is almost dream-like. We are above and beyond excited for new beginnings whether at the university, during gap years or even while a part of the workforce. Such new beginnings will provide us time for the dreams and aspirations we all tirelessly worked for to come to pass.

To sum it all up, the end of the high school era is all about embracing change. It is inevitable and is one of the biggest transitions one will face in their lifetime. It is important to embrace change with an open heart and mind as it will avail more chance to adapt, persevere and continue learning; all skills that will serve as a foundation to our future endeavours. Finishing high school is truly a mix of nostalgia and excitement, but it is important to focus on celebrating achievements and growth. My classmates and I are ecstatic about the future that lies ahead of us as adults. This may, as well, be the last article I am writing for the Taibah Times. My personal experience at Taibah International School has been a rollercoaster of opportunities and learning experiences for which I have an overflow of gratefulness.

I remain,
