FLOODING IN CITIES

‘Flooding in cities’ was our class’ exposition topic. The theme for this year’s exposition was, “Protect the Environment, Save Mother Earth.” We sensitised in cities. What are floods? Floods are large masses of water covering an area that is usually dry. What are the causes of floods? Too much rainfall is the major cause of floods. This occurs when it rains, the soil can’t absorb all the water, so the excess water flows to the bottom which causes a flood. The blockage of drainage systems is another cause of floods. This occurs when we humans throw rubbish anywhere in one way or another, this rubbish ends up in the drainage systems so when it rains, the water can’t pass through the drainage systems because they are blocked. The water just rises and flows to the nearby areas and causes a flood. Our exposition was very educative to our parents who came on that day.
