The Evolution of French Language Education in Uganda and APFO's Innovative Programs
French language education in Uganda has witnessed remarkable progress over the past few decades. Driven by a vision to enhance the quality of French teaching and learning, the APFO (Association des Professeurs de Français en Ouganda) has played a pivotal role in this transformation. In partnership with the French Embassy in Uganda and the Alliance Française de Kampala, APFO has introduced several dynamic programs designed to make learning French more engaging, effective, and accessible. Among these initiatives, the CALUFU (Camps Ludiques Francophiles Uganda) project stands out as a significant advancement in the field.

8. DELF and DALF Certifications: A Pathway to Excellence
Taibah has embraced the DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) certifications. These internationally recognized qualifications assess proficiency in French and are highly valued by educational institutions and employers worldwide.
In the last 3 years , more than 90 students have received the DELF certifications from level A1 to B1.
9. Overview of DELF and DALF
The DELF and DALF certifications are awarded by the French Ministry of National Education and are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The DELF includes levels from A1 to B2, while the DALF covers advanced levels from C1 to C2. These certifications evaluate various aspects of language competence, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
10. Benefits of DELF and DALF
Obtaining a DELF or DALF certification offers numerous advantages. For students, these diplomas open doors to higher education opportunities in Francophone countries and can enhance their career prospects in international fields. The certifications serve as a testament to a student's language proficiency and commitment to mastering French.
For teachers, DELF and DALF certifications provide valuable credentials that can bolster their professional qualifications. The ability to teach and prepare students for these exams is a significant asset in the field of language education.
11. Future Directions of DELF in Taibah International School
The evolution of French language supported by DELF/DALF certifications, represents a promising future for the learners of French in Taibah. Parents need to support the initiative by encouraging the students to embrace this program to obtain a lifelong certificate which is internationally recognized.
As Taibah continues to integrate French language into its educational framework, by supporting French programs in school, the internationalization of knowledge in French will give more chances to our learners to access better education even after Taibah and better job opportunities in future. Acquiring the DELF certificate while still in school is holding the key of success in future with little investment.
