Throughout high school, people go through so many hardships. Whether good or bad, there is something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school and the beginning of life.

I can almost remember our graduation day like it was yesterday. It took place on the 29th October 2022 at the basketball court. We headed to the venue in our gowns and were pleased to see our parents there already. But oh! The beautiful decorations fascinated us. We took our seats and the ceremony commenced with an opening prayer. A few performances followed that included singing and dancing for the guests and the students. After that, we received speeches from the head teacher and principal of the school both of which were heartwarming. Then the director of the school gave such a touching and inspiring speech that we each took to heart. She also went ahead to praise the teachers for their great effort to teach their students, encourage them and help them to solve the problems they experienced, whether academic or social. She then concluded by wishing the students excellence and success.

Thereafter we had the awarding ceremony where many students were appreciated and honored with certificates by the director for being outstanding in many categories including sports, academics, leadership, and many others. Loyalty awards were also given to students who had been in the school since their senior one and year eight. These were followed by cake cutting and the moment we had all been waiting for, the picture moment, especially with our parents. We later had food, and a few drinks and ended the day with a dance. What a spectacular day that was!

To sum it all up, high school graduation is a milestone in our lives where we can celebrate the end of a journey, our newfound freedom, and our first step into the “real world” some would term as adulthood. It is a day full of reminiscing on the memories we made with the classmates who have been by our side since kindergarten, the classmates that we may not see again. It is a day with mixed emotions, teary eyes, smiles of relief, and laughter as we think back on all the memories we shared, talked of all the colleges and universities we would be attending, what we will be doing and the unbelievable realization that we finally did it, we graduated! It is an accomplishment we should be proud of, a day we should look back on and smile.
