Red eyes in one of the pandemics that have attacked Uganda. For many years in and out of diseases have been spreading and killing people countrywide. But this disease has struck fear into children’s minds. This disease is called red eyes aka conjunctivitis. It is spread by direct contact with an infected person. If you in case get the disease, go and seek medical attention before it worsens. But still, prevention is better than cure. Make sure you wash your hands regularly, strictly avoid hugs, handshakes and just like covid 19 avoid touching your face. The president of Uganda told everyone to be vigilant to watch out for people with red eyes so that we avoid the closing of schools. So far so good, only one school has been closed. My fellow pupils, candidates and students, watch out for your friend to make sure no school is closed down by the government of Uganda.

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least twenty seconds or sanitize regularly.

  • Try not to touch or rub your eyes unless you have washed your hands.

  • Don’t share towels, make-up tools, exercise equipment, or other commonly shared objects with someone who has an infection or if you have an infection.

  • Avoid swimming in public pools or using hot tubs or steam rooms, where infectious particles can easily spread.

  • Clean your glasses regularly to avoid transferring infectious materials from your eyes to the glasses.

  • Don’t wear contact lenses while you have an infection.

  • Take the medicine as per the doctor’s advice.

  •  Use eyeglasses to avoid contagion spread.

  • Keep children at home until their infection is subsidised.

  • Once your infection has gone away, wash all beddings that you came in contact with while you had the infection.

  • A feeling that something is in your eye

  • Watery eyes

  • Swollen eyes

  • Discharge

  • Bleeding from blood vessels below the eye surface [subconjunctival hemorrhage]

  • Blurring of vision or difficulty seeing

  • Sensitivity to light
