SOIL POLLUTION

Our exposition theme for this year was, ‘Protect the Environment, Save Mother Earth.’ It was based on creating awareness among the people on protecting Mother Earth. As Yr.6 Lorikeet, we chose the topic of Soil Pollution.  Soil pollution is the presence of toxic substances that contaminate the soil. One of the causes of soil pollution is the over-use of inorganic fertilizers. Soil is structured in give different layers; the first is the O horizion, the 2nd as the top soil or A horizion, the 3rd as the subsoil or B horizion the C horizion or Regolith and the last is bed rock. Soil is formed by weathered rocks. As a way of making the explanation entertaining, we decided to add a quiz at the end. The parent with higher than 5 points gets 2 sweets and lower 5 get no sweets. I liked the quiz.
