The Entrepreneurship projects culture at Taibah is something that has been happening for the last couple of years. It's coordinated by the business teachers of the school; Tr. Margaret, Tr. Thomas and Tr. Lawrence. Both the Year 12 and Senior Five students take part in it and it’s aimed at ushering the students into the world of business, its challenges, as well as how to conduct an actual functioning business. It is also helpful to non-business students because it is an opportunity for them to get familiar with the various terminologies as far as business is concerned. A lot is learnt during this whole process, even on a non-academic level. The students learn how to work together (for those running joint businesses), how to take responsibility for the money earned, how to market and advertise as well as handle shortcomings like losses. These were expressed by the students at the end of the projects among others.
Firstly, the teachers organised an opening ceremony for the programme on the 4th of June,2024. They explained how things were to run and what was expected, they also told us to write our proposals and that once approved and reviewed would be able to start writing their business plans and begin looking for supplies and how to get the requirements. This went on for two weeks and then finally, the approved and legal businesses were given the clearance to start their operations. An exhibition was held for the students to showcase what they planned to sell for the next two weeks. Profits were made, as well as losses but generally it was a big success for most of those that participated. The programmes officially came to a closure after the evaluation of businesses, at a ceremony where those with the highest points were rewarded with gift vouchers and certificates for everyone. A talk about entrepreneurship was also incorporated after the awards by a great speaker which was so informative and helpful for many. The cake was cut and a time was had, marking the end of the entrepreneurship projects in 2024.
