Words don’t come easy to me when it comes to speaking on an occasion like this. Throughout my school life, I’ve seen students bidding farewell to the school, and all in those times, I’ve feared the day when I will be among those stepping out of the doors of this institution. Today, the time seems to have come for me to make a transition from present to history.
Firstly, I would like to say a very big thank you to the Almighty God who has given us the grace to hold yet another big occasion in this great school, and who has also made us pass through our struggles, challenges, and difficulties during the school calendar year.
My teachers, why did you keep at it after we first met or after you first graded me, I don’t know why you singled me out for the extra lessons, I have no idea. You saw potential where I saw none and you did not stop till you had fanned it into flames. The confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and concern for the community, you instilled in me, are just enough to move me into a complete citizen and an outstanding creature worldwide.
There is just a thank you to say and more thank you.
Support staff, you have worked so hard in shaping me into the student I am today. You always had faith in me even when I didn’t. Thank you for helping me through this year of school, I couldn’t have done it without you.
My parents, you have gone through a lot of struggle and pain, you didn’t give up on me, even when it seemed that the rest of the world did and that’s the reason I am still standing here today, thank you for nourishing my soul with your words. For telling me I am beautiful all the times I believed I was not. For all the words of encouragement. For being the absolute rock that you are.
I promise I won’t let all that go in vain. I want to do justice to every time you believed in me. I promise I will grow up, to be the best I can be.
